CALL FOR PARTNERS - European seminar

The Federation des Aroeven has been working, for many years now, on non-violent conflict resolution in school. We have developed our own "peer mediation" tool, implemented it in high schools all over France. Since 2013, and with the help of academic researchers from the universities of Nantes, Rennes 1 and Lille 3, our organization has been monitoring, on a sample of schools, this tool's impact on the level/rate of conflicts.

In 2015, the Fédération des Aroéven wishes to organize a European seminar on nonviolent conflict resolution. We consider the ability to solve a conflict in a non-violent way a great tool to enhance young people's autonomy, sense of initiative, civic participation and psychosocial skills. Peer mediation, in that sense, is an important contribution to the education for citizenship, to young people's well-being and social inclusion.

This seminar aims at developing/strengthening youth workers skills by:
 • sharing knowledge and participants' various approaches to non-violent conflict resolution education (theories, philosophy ...).
 • sharing the participants' concrete experiences and practices with non-violent conflict resolution education.
 • Identifying best practices and methods.
 • Discussing the future of our practices and the possibility of creating a common protocol

This seminar is also a great opportunity to strengthen the partnering organizations’ skills in developing European approaches. It might be the first step in the creation of a "Non-Violent Conflict resolution Education" European network.

We intend for this project to take place in Paris, 5th of October, 2015 - 10th of October 2015 (arrival on Monday, 5th; departure on Saturday,10th).

We are looking for partners (teachers' association, youth workers organization...).
There is no maximum age limit for participants.

If you are interested in this project, please contact us before March 13th, 2015, explaining your organization’s experience in working with young people around the ideas of non-violent conflict resolution (the working language of the seminar has not been decided yet. Please tell us whether you speak French).
